Constitution Day

Constitution Day is quickly approaching! This is one holiday that sneaks up on me every year, and then I frantically look for something that I can use in isolation while I'm right in the middle of my Native American social studies unit.

This year, I'm going to address Constitution Day in reading instead of social studies. I wrote some close reading passages about the Constitution with second read, third read, and writing response activities. They are at {TpT} if you would like to do the activities with your class. I also included a basic how-to on close reading if you've never tried it with your class before.

I hope that it will come in handy for your last-minute Constitution Day planning!!

Two Digit Multiplication Game and Quiz Freebie

As our fifth graders are starting the year, I am focusing my 5th grade intervention groups on making sure they can multiply.  Last week, I worked with a group of students that needed some practice multiplying two digit numbers

When students come to me, I give them a pretest and we set a goal.  This weeks goal was Multiply Two Digit Numbers Precisely.  

I taught the students a game to help them practice.

Who doesn't love free bookmarks?

Hello everyone! It's been pretty hectic lately with school starting, but I'm dropping by to share one of my favorite things about back to school - BOOKMARKS! Ever year I have a bookmark for each subject ready to go. These print out 3 to a page, so I can print them all on one pack of cardstock! I'd like to share with you my Interactive Notebooking Bookmark, which I personally use in Math, and my Close Reading Bookmarks.

We've already gotten good use out of both bookmarks. I see students pulling out the Close Reading Bookmark as a reference every time we read. That makes me SO happy!
